Ronald Lee Violet, 63, of Sharpsburg, MD died at his home on October 31, 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul E. Violet and Kathleen E. Rice Violet, of Rohrersville, MD.
He is survived by four aunts, Rhoda Rice and Dorothy Norris, both of Loxahatchee, FL, Freeda McClure of Havre de Grace, MD, and Velma Violet Rowland of Waynesboro, PA.
Ron was a 1963 graduate of Boonsboro High School, 1967 graduate of Shepherd University. He completed his masters degree at West Virginia University and worked in the doctoral program at Virginia Tech. He was a teacher at Clear Spring High School, St. Maria Goretti High School, Greene County VA Public Schools, Warrenton Community College, Hagerstown Community College, Fredericksburg Community College, and Shepherd University. He was currently teaching at Mountain State University. He had worked in Wildlife Management for the state of Maryland and at Roxbury Correctional Institution.
Ron loved hunting, fishing and instrumental music. He was a longtime member of the Rohrersville Band and was currently a member of the New Horizons Band along with the Williamsport Community Band.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at Rehoboth United Methodist Church, 30 East Salisbury Street, Williamsport, MD. The Rev. Dr. James Swecker will officiate. A fellowship luncheon will follow at the church.
