Ronald Knerr

Mr. Ronald S. "Ron" Knerr, of Frederick, MD went home to be with the Lord on Friday morning, January 17, 2014. He spent his last year at Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was the loving husband of 54 years to Leah Knerr.
Ron was born October 31, 1931 in Pitman, PA. He was the son of the late Stuart P. and Irene Harring Knerr.
Ron was employed by United Airlines as an aircraft mechanic for 15 years and then moved on to Chesapeake and Potomac Airways for the duration of his career. He was also a veteran of the United States Air Force.
In younger years, Ron enjoyed hunting, bowling, baseball and coaching little league. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and the American Legion FSK Post #11, Frederick.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Brian Knerr and wife, Cathy, of St. Petersburg, FL; two grandchildren, Lauren Knerr of Jacksonville, FL, and Tim Knerr of Orlando, FL; two sisters, Joyce Buffington and husband, Donald, of Valley View, PA, and Lorraine Hepler and husband, Pete, of Pitman, PA; sister-in-law, Lila Rebuck of Leck Kill, PA; brothers-in-law, John Reitz and wife, Mary Ann, of Hanover, PA, and Frank Brosious of Chambersburg, PA; and many nieces and nephews.
Ron was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Paul Rebuck; and sisters-in-law, June Brosious, and Faye Kieffer and husband, Derl.
The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1415 W. 7th Street, Frederick, where services will begin at 11 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Mark Huffman and the Rev. Gordon Narvesen.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1037 Haven Rd., Hagerstown, MD 21742; Hospice of Frederick County, P.O.
