Ronald Hawbaker, 73, of Boonsboro, MD, passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2016 at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown. He was the loving husband of Bonnie Hawbaker, whom he married May 16, 1964.
Born on July 29, 1943, in Chambersburg, PA, he was the son of the late Paul G. and Laura (Johnston) Hawbaker.
He was a graduate of Boonsboro High School class of 1962.
Ronnie was a hard-working career electrician, employed by Shifler Electric in the 1960's, Ellsworth Electric in the 1970's, and had a 28 year career at Mack Trucks, retiring in 2007.
Ronnie attended Boonsboro Bible Church. He was a devoted family man and had a love for automobiles, hot rods and drag racing.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Bonnie J. Hawbaker; son, Dwayne Hawbaker and wife, Kim, of Keedysville; daughter, Andrea Turner and Doug, of Boonsboro; six grandchildren - Ashlyn, Alli and Addison Hawbaker and Aaron, Alex and Amanda Turner; brother, Paul Hawbaker and wife, Debbie, of Waynesboro, PA; and sisters, Delores Kuhn and husband, Lester, of Chambersburg, PA, and Linda Healan and husband, Mike, of Grayslake, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro, Maryland.
Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Allen Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Boonsboro Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at www.jdrf.org.
