Ronald Copeland

Mr. Ronald E. Copeland, 83, of Monrovia, MD went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Karen A. Kirkley Copeland, his wife of 35 years.

Born April 3, 1931 in Washington, D.C. he was the son of the late Robert and Opel Leaman Copeland.

Ronald proudly served his country during the Korean War as a Master Sergeant in U.S. Air Force. He owned and operated Campbell Sand and Gravel in Crofton, MD for 44 years. He was a member of the Gold Star American Legion, Post 191 in Mt. Airy. Ronald enjoyed woodworking, gardening, traveling, antique cars and especially airplanes.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his five children: Richard Copeland and wife Margi of Virginia, Larry Copeland and wife Joanne of West Virginia, Lynn Dunn and husband Steve of Stevensville, MD, Kevin Deel and Partner Barbara Hatfield of Sykesville, MD and Victoria Vale and husband Geoffrey of Ijamsville, MD; a brother Barry Copeland and wife Ethelene of Hanover, PA, his sister Kathy Shay and husband Pat of Annapolis and a brother-in-law Clair Love; 11 grandchildren: Eric Copeland, Lewis Bennett, Gary Hatfield, Julia Northrop, Kelsey Dunn, Alan Vale, Karen Vale, Rachel Vale, Steven Dunn, William Vale and Ethan Dunn; 4 great-grandchildren: Parker Bennett, Ryan Copeland, Isabella Dunn and Josephine Northrop.

Ronald was preceded in death by his first wife of 22 years Barbara Jeanne Werner Copeland and a sister Lois Love.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 PM on Tuesday, July 15, at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy where funeral services will begin at 4:00 PM with Rev. Leon Dodson of Mt. Hope Christian Church, Kemptown officiating.

Graveside services and interment take place at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, July 16, at Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reading, PA.
