Ronald B. Anderson, 84, of Monrovia, MD, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2024. He was the husband of Karen W. Anderson. They were very happily married for 63 years. His parents were Allan W. Anderson and Edith R. (Buck) Anderson. He was the loving father of Christine Thomas (Brett) of Gettysburg, PA, Deborah Winpigler (Kevin) of Mount Airy, MD and Ronald Bruce Anderson, Jr. (Jackie) of Frederick, MD; proud grandfather of Caitlin Curley, Eileen Curley, Timothy Winpigler, and Grace Winpigler; great grandfather of Liam Perez.
Ron grew up in Washington, D.C. and graduated from Montgomery Blair High School. In his younger years, Ron was a well-known mechanic (especially Pontiac) and service manager who worked for many shops and dealers - most notably, Rock Creek Gulf, Blank Pontiac, and Tom Hatton Pontiac until he opened his own shop, Green Valley Garage in Monrovia, MD.
Ron loved cars - especially fast ones - particularly American Muscle cars. He enjoyed drag racing, both on and off the track, as well as car shows and cruise ins. He and Karen were well known breeders of Chesapeake Bay Retrievers and traveled around the country with the dogs. A former licensed falconer and collector of many things, he enjoyed many hobbies. He was hardworking, fun-loving, and treasured his employees and many friends.
An unstoppable force of nature, we celebrate his life and are devastated by his passing. We like to think that if there is a Gasoline Alley in Heaven, that’s exactly where he will be.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 20th at 2 p.m. at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702.
Weather permitting, the family would love to see your coolest car in the procession.
