Dearly loved Roman "Roma" Sudzhashvili Michael of Mount Airy, MD passed away on December 7, 2015 from a head injury sustained from a workplace accident.
Roma was born on August 10, 1994 in Vladikavkaz, Russia. He was adopted on April 21, 2002.
He is survived by his parents, Debbie and Bruce Michael, of Mount Airy, three sisters Heather Cramer (Rob), Pittsburgh, PA, Kellie Ryan (Mike), Wisconsin, birth sister, Liana, Russia, and one brother, Taylor Michael of Mount Airy, MD. He also leaves behind nine nieces and nephews, and a loving aunt from the Republic of Georgia, Lia Tsivtsivadze. Roma was adopted from Russia at the age of seven by the Michaels, but the whole community of Mount Airy, and beyond, helped raise him. His sweet disposition, infectious laughter, and charming smile touched all who knew him.
He loved sports of all kinds. He grew up in the MAYA and LUYA sports communities playing baseball, basketball, and football. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church where he was involved with Youth Fellowship and mission trips. He attended Frederick and Carroll County Schools and Fork Union Military Academy in Virginia, were he was All League in Football and played on ESPN.
In his short 21 years, he embraced life fully. His life continues, as he gave the gift of life as an organ donor.
In lieu of flowers, you may donate to Bethany Christian Services, a domestic and foreign adoption facilitator, or The Harbor of Saint Petersburg, assisting orphan teenagers who have aged out of the Russian orphan system.
