Roger Edwin Moore, 89, of Boonsboro, Maryland, passed from this life on April 30, 2018 at his home.

Born on July 12, 1928 in Sharpsburg, Maryland, he was the son of the late Earl Alexander and Mary Alice (Renner) Moore. Roger was a 1946 graduate from Boonsboro High School. He was a United States Navy Veteran having provide faithful service from 1946 until 1949. Roger was a retired employee from the Maryland Department of National Resources having worked as the Manager of the Albert Powell Fish Hatchery in Hagerstown, Maryland. He was a member of the Beaver Creek Christian Church where he had served as an Elder and the Chairman of the Board.

Roger joined the Sharpsburg Lions Club in 1957 and served as the District Governor of Lions International District 22-W in 1976-1977. He was a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow with Lions International and an Arnall Patz Fellow with the Lions Vision Research Foundation. Roger was a lifetime member of the Morris-Frock American Legion Post #42 and Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge #378, both in Hagerstown. Most recently, he was a member of the Hagerstown Lions Club.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, to Aldeth Valerie (Wade) Moore; two sons, Craig E. Moore and wife Lana of Boonsboro and Wade M. Moore and wife Jayne of Hagerstown; and one sister, Lois Leatherman and husband Charles of Biglerville, PA. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren

In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his son Roger S. Moore, and his brother, J. Maurice Moore.

A receiving of friends will be held for 6-8PM on Thursday, May 3, at Bast Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, MD. The funeral service

1 pm, Friday, May 4th at the funeral home. The Reverend Mark Curran will officiate. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Sharpsburg.
