Roger W. Hughes, 75, of Hagerstown, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 12, 2012 at his home.
Born on August 6, 1936, he was the son of the late Roger Beard and Lola Hughes. He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy C. Kendall in 1995.
Roger was a U.S. National Guard veteran, having served during the Vietnam War.
Roger worked for twenty years at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. Afterward, Roger worked for the State of Maryland National Guard as a grounds keeper in Edgewood, Maryland until his retirement.
He is survived by two sons; Mark King of West Virginia and Richard and his wife, Suzy Hughes of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania; a daughter, Pamela and her husband, Tony Stull of Fayetteville, Pennsylvania; four sisters; one brother; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Peggy Hughes; one sister; and one grandson.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, Maryland. The Rev. R. Thomas Fralin, Jr. will officiate.
Family will receive friends two hours prior to the service on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at the funeral home.
