Roby A. (Axtell) Hager , 89, of Rohrersville, Maryland, passed from this life on Tuesday, October 2, 2013 at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, Maryland.
Born on May 11, 1924, in Deposit, New York, she was the daughter of the late Ivan and Nettie (Storrer) Axtell. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph A. Hager, who passed away on April 9, 1982.
She attended Washington Bible College in Washington, D.C. Roby was homemaker and a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and great great grandmother. Her interests included, sewing, crocheting, rug making, gardening, children’s ministry, food bank and pro-life causes.
During her life, she and her husband worked as foster parents for nearly 30 years, beginning in 1960. Over that time, Roby and Ralph hosted almost 100 foster children in a loving home environment.
She is survived by her three daughters, Donna Wentzel and husband Marc of Boulder Creek, California, Paula McLaughlin and husband Philip of Lewisburg, West Virginia and Pamela Van Dyk and husband Steven of Goleta, California; son Joe Hager of Rohrersville, Maryland; eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Roby was preceded in death by her sister Lillian "Peg" Carkner, and two brothers, John Axtell, and David Axtell.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, October 7, 2013 at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, 3346 Gapland Road, Rohrersville, Maryland. Pastors Clayton Payton and Bruce Gephart will officiate.
