Robert L. Bob Humerick, Master Sergeant, US Army (Ret), of Rosemont, passed peacefully from this earth on Wednesday, Sep 30, 2009 at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He was born on January 18, 1936 in Thurmont, MD.
Bob was a 21-year veteran of the United States Army, having served tours of duty in Anchorage, AK, Ft Devens, MA; Bad Aibling, Germany; Kassel, Germany; Augsburg, Germany; Vietnam; and Arlington Hall Station, VA. His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Replubic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and six Good Conduct Medals.
After retiring from active duty in 1975, he worked for the Department of the Army at Ft Detrick until retiring in 1997.
He was an avid Redskins, Orioles, and Maryland Terrapins fan, was a truly outstanding bowler, and will be remembered for his sense of humor and generosity.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, E. Louise (Null) Humerick and daughter Deborah Christman and husband Greg of Redhouse, VA; son David and wife Faith of Urbana, MD, and son Doug and wife Lisa of Bristol, CT. He is also survived by seven loving grandchildren: Justine Christman and Jordan Christman of Redhouse, VA; Bryce Humerick and Tanner Humerick of Urbana, MD; and Zachary Humerick, Jacob Humerick, and Matthew Humerick of Bristol, CT.
Additionally, he is survived by sister Patricia and husband Adrian of Maxton, NC; brother Jim and wife Carol of Thurmont, MD, brother Gerry and wife Mary of Union, WV; brother Joe and wife Norma of North Port, FL; and brother Mike and wife Cheryl of Hanover, MD.
Bob will also be missed by his Aunt, Pauline Grimes of Thurmont, MD; special friends Bill and Jackie Snoots, Lynn and Betty Follin, Woody and Jean Price, Charlie and Judy Smith, Carl and Debbie Harris, Nicole Heatherly, beloved nephew Kevin Paradis and wife Jane, and numerous other cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He was pre-deceased by his mother, Hazel Shriner and his grandparents, Harry and Cora Mae Humerick.
Visitation: The family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 North Maple Ave, Brunswick on Sunday, October 4 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
Services:
Funeral services will be held at the Brownsville Church of the Brethren, 1911 Rohrersville Rd., Brownsville on Monday, October 5 at 1:00 PM with the Rev. Allen Smith officiating.
The Interment with military honors will be at Brownsville Church of the Brethren Church Cemetery.
