Robert L. Sinclair

July 30, 1917 — February 6, 2010



Mr Robert L. Sinclair, 92 of Mt. Airy, died on Saturday, February 6, 2010, at Lorien Life Center in Mount Airy. He was the husband of Alma Adele Lane Sinclair, his wife of 64 years.

Born on July 30, 1917 in Baltimore he was the son of the late Charles and Mary Tolson Daugherty.

Mr Sinclair served in the US Army as a 1st Sgt. in WWII with the 175th Infantry, 29th Infantry Division; landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day; was awarded the Bronze Star, twice, and Purple Heart. He also retired as a Master Chief in the US Naval Reserves after 30 years of service.

Robert was a retired postal inspector with the U. S. Postal Service after 32 years service. Mr. Sinclair was a member of the Doric Lodge, F&AM and a member of the Scottish Rite Consistory. He enjoyed boating and camping.

He is survived by a son, Robert L. Sinclair, II and wife Ruth of Mount Airy; and grandchildren: Jacob Sinclair of Mount Airy and Alison Sefton and husband Steve of Minneapolis, MN.

Services: A memorial service for family and close friends will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 20, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd in Mt. Airy.
