Robert Fulton Bishop, Jr., 79, of Frederick, Maryland passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2007 at the Washington Hospital Center. He was the loving husband of Fern Bishop of 44 years who passed away on October 16, 2007.
Born May 13, 1928, in Laurens, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Robert F. Bishop, Sr. and Nomie Gossett Bishop. He is survived by his daughter, Mary Anthony and husband Allen and grandchildren A.J. and Laura Anthony of Frederick. He is also survived by children from his first wife, Catherine Rooney; Jack Bishop and Barbara Guitard of Rhode Island as well as a daughter-in-law Karen Bishop and grandson Ryan Bishop of Rhode Island. He was preceded in death by his daughter Catherine Lucy Redmond, sons Robert Fulton Bishop III, David and James Bishop. He is also survived by a sister Mrs. Irene Williams of Greenville, South Carolina and her husband Franz.
He was preceded in death by his sister Alma Kimbrell of Greenville, South Carolina.
Mr. Bishop served in the US Navy just after WWII. He was an upholster adjuster for Woodward & Lothrop for 40 years before retiring in 1989. He was a member of Forcey Memorial Church in Silver Spring, Maryland before moving to Frederick in 2005. His hobbies included gardening, cooking with his granddaughter Laura, fishing with his grandson A.J. or watching him play basketball. He was always busy with home improvement projects, helping his neighbors or building remote control airplanes. He also had a love for flying and received his pilot's license in the early seventies. His favorite past time was time with his family or reading his Bible and spending time with his Lord and Savior.
Fern Elizabeth Bishop, 79, of Frederick, Maryland passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the loving wife of Robert Bishop of 44 years who passed away on October 21, 2007. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Anthony and husband Allen and grandchildren A.J. and Laura Anthony of Frederick.
Born February 3, 1928 in Washington, D.C., she was a daughter of the late George Edgar Towles, Sr. and Fern Edith Towles. She is survived by a sister Marion T. Zook of Gaithersburg and was preceded in death by a brother, George Edgar Towles, Jr.
Mrs. Bishop was a graduate of Roosevelt High Washington, D.C., Class of 1946. She worked for I.B.E.W. (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) for 43 years before retiring in 1989. Her favorite pastime was her grandchildren.
She was a very loving and caring person and her family will miss her smile and unconditional love and generous spirit to those in need.

Services: A memorial service to celebrate Robert and Fern's life will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2007 at 1:00 PM at Faith Baptist Church, 2212 Jefferson Pike, Knoxville, Maryland with Pastor Ed Jordan officiating.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made for A.J. & Laura's tuition to New Life Christian School c/o New Life Fourscore Church, 5909 Jefferson Pike, Frederick, MD 21703 through the month of December 2007.
