Robert {Bobby} Preston Holland

Mr. Robert Bobby Preston Holland, 69, of Ijamsville, MD died Friday, October 24, 2008 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband for 9 years to Dorothy Carter Holland.

Born in Frederick, MD on December 15, 1938 he was the son of the late Elizabeth Ellen (Gilbert) and Donald John Holland. Bobby served in the US Army and later in the Army Reserves. He retired after spending 32 years with the Bureau of Standards as a groundskeeper.

Bobby was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. A caring individual, he enjoyed spending his spare time visiting with friends at the local hospitals. An avid Washington Redskins fan, he enjoyed watching sports on TV and loved to fish.

Surviving besides his wife, are three children; Debra Jacobs and husband Walter of Waldorf, MD, Zachery Holland of Germantown, and Eric Holland of California; two step children; Donald Dorsey and wife Linda, and Valerie Dorsey all of Ijamsville; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren; his four siblings; John D. Holland and wife Virginia of Virginia Beach, VA, Arthur Holland and wife Betty of Libertytown, Diane King and husband Delbert of Brunswick, and Howard Holland of Frederick; an aunt, Aunt Sis Butler of Brookville, MD, Sister in Laws Mary Lyles and her husband Bishop Merle Lyles and Ursula Stewart both of Ijamsville and several nieces and nephews.

Services: Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 4010 Ijamsville Road, Ijamsville, MD with Rev. Pastor Sidney W. Morris officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery where serving as pallbearers will be: Willis Gilbert, Harry Lipscomb, Eugene Gilbert, Gary Gilbert, Ronald Gilbert, Alan Carter, and Larry Gray.
