Robert "Bob" A. Bolton, 71, of Chestnut Grove Road in Keedysville, Maryland, died on Friday, November 27, 2009 at the Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown, Maryland.


Born on December 24, 1937, he was the son of the late Arthur and Mary (Silva) Bolton.


Mr. Bolton had been a Washington County resident for the last 2 years, having relocated from Brooksville, Florida.


He retired after 20 years of service to the U.S. Army. He had served in Korea in addition to two terms of service in the Vietnam War.  He was the recipient of the Soldier's Medal in addition to the Bronze Star with other recognition's for his bravery and commitment to his country. Bob later retired from the Alexandria Virginia Sheriffs Department where he worked as a Deputy.  He continued to work part time as a crane operator before moving to Florida to pursue his fishing dream.


Bob was a member of the American Legion Post 186 in Brooksville, Florida.


He is survived by his daughter, Deborah A. and her husband William J. Carder of Keedysville, Maryland; one sister Joan Sowle of Brooksville, Florida; one grandson Stephen W. Pennell of Wilmington, North Carolina; and one great-granddaughter, Katelyn A. Pennell also of Wilmington.  He is also survived by his two lifelong friends, George Beckwith of Dale City, Virginia and Eugene Branchaurd of Brooksville, Florida.


Funeral services are planned at Arlington National Cemetery and will be held at the convenience of the family.


Memorial donations may be make to the Brooksville American Legion, Spring Hill Post 186, 12091 Cortez Boulevard, Brooksville, Florida, 34613-7350.


Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home in Boonsboro, Maryland.
