Robert "Bob" Styers, Sr.

Robert "Bob" A. Styers, Sr., 51, of Shaffer Road in Sharpsburg, Maryland, died peacefully at his home on Friday, December 11, 2009.

Born on June 2, 1958, in Riverdale, Maryland, he is the son of Doris L. (Leishear) Styers of Sykesville, Maryland and the late Ralph L. Styers, Sr.

Bob attended the Scaggsville Elementary, Clarksville Middle and Atholton High School in Howard County, Maryland.

Mr. Styers had been an employee at the Washington Sanitary Suburban Commission in Laurel, Maryland since 1978.

Robert was a member of the Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Boonsboro, Maryland, the Instrument Society of America, the National Electric Code and the East Coast Trail Ride Association.

In addition to his mother, Bob is survived by his wife Ellen F. (Hamer) Styers; one son, Robert A. Styers, Jr., and one daughter, Jennifer L. Styers, both of Columbia, Maryland; one step-daughter, Dawn L. Dow of New Market, Maryland and one brother, Ralph L. Styers, Jr. of Sykesville, Maryland.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 14, 2009 at the Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 17626 Bakersville Road, Boonsboro, Maryland. Rev. John Torrence will officiate. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, December 13, 2009 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, Maryland.
