Robert  "Bob"  R.  Bell, 85, of  Boonsboro, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 20, 2014 at Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on August 25, 1928, in Boonsboro, he was the son of the late Rex and Elsie (Humphrey) Bell.

Bob held various job positions during his working career.  Toward the latter part of his career, Bob worked for and retired from Thomas and Sons, Inc. in  Boonsboro.

He was a member of Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church in Boonsboro.  He was also a member of the Clopper-Michael American Legion Post #10 in Boonsboro.

Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and making walking sticks and canes.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Genevieve (Itnyre) Bell; his daughter, Anita Sweigert of Boonsboro; his two sons,  David Bell of Washington D.C. and Steven Bell and his wife, Beth, of Hagerstown, Maryland; and a sister, Rebecca Stuller of Falling Waters, West Virginia.  He is also survived by three grandchildren, Danielle Sweigert, and Christopher and Kaitlin Bell; and three great-grandchildren, Aniiah and Karisma Sweigert, and Griffin Carper.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his two brothers, Frank and Harry Bell.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, Maryland.  The Rev. Dr. Ray Roberson will officiate. Final resting-place ceremonies will be held privately.

Family will receive friends two hours prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 747, Northern Avenue, Hagerstown, Maryland 21742.
