Mrs. Roberta Lou Lyons, 65, of Frederick passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on Monday, November 18, 2013.
Mrs. Lyons was born on April 25, 1948, in Marshalltown, IA. She was the daughter of Blanche M. and Edward L. Matya. She was the loving wife of Ronald J.A. Lyons. She is also survived by her two children; her daughter, Amanda C. Webb and husband Michael of Hanover, PA and her son Christopher E. Rose of Frederick, MD. Also surviving are her five grandchildren, Corbyn L. Keller, Coltyn D. Keller, Camdyn P. Keller, Kennedy R. Webb and Lane R. Webb all of Hanover, PA; as well as one sister Carolyn K. Vavra and husband Douglas and one brother Edward E. Matya and wife Barbara of Marshalltown, IA. Besides her family Mrs. Lyons is also survived by her lifelong friend Linda Galloway and good friends Steve and Jean Clark.
Mrs. Lyons was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority since 1973. She also worked for the Frederick County Government in the Treasurer’s office for 24 years. However, her true passion was spending time with her family.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home on Friday, November 22nd from 6:00-8:00PM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 23rd at 1:00PM the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration, 6909 Maryland Ave., Braddock Heights with The Rev. Dr. Gordon J. De La Vars officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration, P.O. Box 87, Braddock Heights, MD 21714.
