Robert Summerset Windsor, Jr., 85, of Sun City Center, FL and New Market, MD, died Tuesday, August 16, 2011 in Sun City Center. He was the loving husband for 64 years to Rebecca Hahn Windsor.
Born May 18, 1926 in Ijamsville, MD, he was a son of Robert S. Windsor, Sr. and Olive Watkins Windsor.
Mr. and Mrs. Windsor are owners of Hahn Transportation, Inc. in New Market, MD.
Mr. Windsor was a charter member of the New Market Lions Club; served on the Rockwell International Advisory Board; a member of St. John the Divine Church, Sun City Center; was a former family member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Ijamsville, MD; The Frederick County Maryland Agricultural Fair Board; Past Master Philanthropic Lodge, No. 168, New Market, MD and past member of the Board of Directors of National Tank Truck Carriers ; Second Fire Chief of Mew Market District Volunteer Fire Department, Fishing Creek Rod and Gun Club, and life member of BPO Elks 684. Mr. Windsor and his wife were honored by the Maryland Motor Truck Association as Business People of the Year in 1994.
Mr. Windsor was also survived by two daughters, Barbara Windsor of New Market, MD and Rosemary Longenecker and her husband Bob of Clearwater Beach, FL; twin grandsons Jason Hahn Williams and Jeremy Windsor Williams and sister-in-law Mary Catherine Moser of Sun City Center, FL. He was predeceased by his sister, Florrie Strother. He will be especially remembered by his dog, Sophie.
The family will receive friends from 6:00PM to 9:00PM on Friday, August 19 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD. Services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 11:00.
Officiating will be Rev Timothy May and Rev Mel Fair. Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
The family will receive guests at the Holly Hills Country Club immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the New Market Volunteer Fire Department Engine Restoration Fund, 76 W. Main St., New Market, MD 21774 or the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center, 100 N. Charles St. Suite 234, Baltimore, MD 21201.
