Robert Wagner

Mr. Robert Wilson Wagner, 95, of Mt. Airy passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at Lorien Life Center, Mt. Airy. He was the husband of the late Jane Conaway Wagner who died in 2011, after 58 years marriage.

Born on November 18, 1920, in Greenmount, MD, he was the son of the late Clarence Wilson and Edith Benson Wagner.

Bob was a veteran of WWII serving three years in the Pacific Theatre. He was a 1948 graduate of Western Maryland College and at the time of his retirement was the President of the Baltimore Office Supply Company. As a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Mt. Airy, he was active in many areas of church activities including the choir, Sunday School, United Methodist Men as well as numerous committees. Mr. Wagner was a member of the Mt. Airy Kiwanis Club and was a past Capital District Lt. Governor; and a member of the National Office Products Association. Bob was an avid gardener but most of all cherished spending time with family. He openly shared and taught the love of God, Man, and all God's creation especially through involvement with his sons and family in BSA Troop 460, South Carroll High School Band, church music and choirs, community activities, yard work and play, vegetable and fruit gardening, family picnics and reunions, living room concerts, ballgames, and a game of pinochle, pitch, or whistle jack.

Surviving are three children: Robert Conaway Wagner and wife Susan of Roanoke, VA, David Francis Wagner and wife Patti of Farmville, Va and Douglas Wilson Wagner and wife Jo of Midlothian, VA; five grandchildren: Matthew David Wagner and wife Brittney, Andrew Wilson Wagner and wife Carly, Adam Gregory Wagner and wife Kelly Rebekah Luise Wagner and Robert William Wagner; four great grandsons: Ian, Jameson, Samuel and Elijah Wagner; nieces and nephews: Linda Fowble, Megan and husband Ron and Bennett Smith, Mark Richards and wife Debbie, Beth, Frances and Tim Richards; sister-in-law Caroline Richards and husband Joe. Mr. Wagner was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Howard.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 PM on Tuesday, March 29, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8. E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 30, at Calvary United Methodist Church, 403 S. Main St., Mt. Airy, 21771 with Rev. Steve Larson officiating.

Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Mt. Airy.
