Robert Wachter, Jr.

Mr. Robert A. Wachter, Jr., 83, of Thurmont, MD., passed away Thursday, August 16, 2012 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Margaret Rice Wachter, his wife of 64 years.
Born April 4, 1929 in Lewistown, Maryland, he was the son of the late Robert A., Sr., and Mildred Keeney Wachter.
Mr. Wachter was a member of Lewistown United Methodist Church. He was a farmer throughout his life and in earlier years he was employed at American Optical and retired from Hood College He enjoyed woodworking and gardening.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Larry Wachter and wife Vivian of Frederick, Mary Beahm and husband J.R., of Thurmont, Louann Shankle and husband Oscar of Frederick and Marlene Lewis and husband Gene of Thurmont, grandchildren Becky, Cheryl, Stacy and April, great grandchildren Ashley, Tyler and Gary, Jr., siblings Jean Grant, Carroll Wachter, Bill Wachter, Ruth Lenhart and Anna Mary Snider. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont on Monday, August 20, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, where services will be held Tuesday, August 21, at 11:00 am with Pastor Elza Hurst officiating.
Interment Mt. Prospect Church Cemetery.
