Robert Shepard

December 2, 1945 — August 7, 2016

Robert Wayne Shepard, age 70, of Frederick gained his angel wings after a courageous 2 year battle with pancreatic cancer on Sunday August 7, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born on December 2, 1945 in Norton, Virginia, he was the son of the late John Earl Shepard and Nona Velma (Shortridge) Shepard. Robert went to Lebanon High School.

Robert was a Vietnam Veteran and proudly served in the US Army from 1966-1972. He was a long standing member of The American Legion, Francis Scott Key Post No. 11.

Robert retired in September 2008 after 36 years in the construction business. He worked hard starting as a laborer and worked his way up to being a superintendent. He made many friends throughout the years between working at Glen Construction, Triad and Opus. He enjoyed gardening and was an avid golfer. He travelled to Myrtle Beach, Arizona, Bahamas and Jamaica just to play golf.

He is survived by his loving and devoted daughter Jennifer Shepard Price and her husband Tony of Frederick, granddaughter Alison Shepard of Frederick, brother Roger Shepard of Bristol, TN, beloved family pet Mojo, and many wonderful nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers J.E., Jerry and William and sisters Priscilla, Betty and Annette. He will also be remembered by his friends through the senior golf league in New Market, MD and by his golf partners in crime John Offutt, Chuck Crockett, Jon Howe and Ricky Bedard.

His daughter Jennifer and granddaughter Alison were the loves of his life and he will be greatly missed.

The family wishes to extend deep gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff at the University of Maryland Medical Center, the Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Cancer Center and Hospice of Frederick County for their loving and generous care and support.

The family will receive friends Friday, August 12 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick from 1:00pm-2:00pm to be followed by a service at 2:00pm with Rev. Tim May officiating.

Interment, Private.
