Robert D. Schulze Jr., 77, of New Market, Maryland, passed from this life on Friday, January 3, 2025. Born on March 19, 1947, in Ossining, New York, he was the son of the late Robert D. Schulze and Helen Sampson Schulze. He grew up in New York, Texas, and Virginia Beach with his parents and twin brother, John F Schulze. He graduated from high school at Frank W Cox High School in Virginia Beach. He then went to VMI before transferring and graduating from James Madison University where he was a member of the basketball team. He followed his dream to be a Navy pilot and attended flight school at Pensacola. He left the Navy to start a career as founder and owner of Pizza Hut of Maryland for the remainder of his life. He considered his working family to be an extension of his family. He lived life to the fullest with many adventures including skiing, sailing, scuba diving, fishing, hunting with his beloved labs Tara and Dixie, golfing, tennis, coaching, and mentoring many. He was a very proud grandfather. He loved watching them play sports and very rarely missed a game. He was a kind, hardworking, loyal man and dedicated his life to everyone he cared about as well as charitable causes close to his heart. Most importantly he was a loving and dedicated family man. His presence on this earth will be missed by so many. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Debra Schulze, daughter and son in law, Dawn N Croft and Eric Croft, son and daughter in law, Stephen Schulze and Linda Schulze, 5 grandchildren: Kayla Schulze, Stephen Schulze II, Pierce Schulze, Caroline Croft, and Alyssa Croft, brother and sister-in-law John F Schulze and Sherrod Schulze, nieces and nephews and many others. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Michael J Fox Foundation or Parkinson’s Foundation for research and support.
