Robert E. Pfister, 73, of Walkersville, Maryland passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, October 22, 2014 surrounded by his loving family.

Born on October 22, 1941 in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the son of the late Robert and Cecilia Pfister. He has been a long-time Frederick County resident moving here in 1974.

Bob was an accomplished executive, most recently retiring as President of Frequentis USA, Inc. from 2002 until he retired in 2012. He has been involved in improving telecommunication systems and command and control systems across many federal agencies including NASA, FAA, DoD, and others; contributing to space exploration and the defense of the United States. Bob was an excellent business man and pursued business and life with compassion.

Bob enjoyed cooking, gardening, spending time with his family and enjoying his grandchildren’s activities and sporting events. He was an avid Nationals fan and a long-time Redskin fan. Bob and Mary travelled the world over the years, visiting Alaska, Hawaii, seeing the pyramids of Egypt, riding horses on the beaches of Cape of Good Hope in South Africa, China, England, France, Germany, Turkey, Korea, Greece, Italy, Spain, Israel, Portugal, Switzerland, Austria, Ireland, Canada, Caribbean, and Chile among others.

Bob was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend whose optimistic nature was adored by everyone he knew. Bob will be greatly missed by his family and many friends and co-workers. He was a good and gentle man in a thousand ways.

Bob is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary L. Pfister, whom he married on May 4th, 1963; his sons Greg and wife Juanita of Keymar, MD, and Michael of Frederick, MD, his brother John and wife Margaret of Irving, Texas, and sisters Debbie Oliva of Blue Ash, Ohio and Donna and husband Dave Estes of Maineville, Ohio. He is also survived by his grandchildren Madelyn (Pfister) Cregger and husband Grant of Frederick, MD, Joey Pfister, and Olivia Pfister.

The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff of the Frederick Memorial Hospital ICU for their excellent care and compassion.

The family will receive friends from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Sunday, October 26, 2014 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Monday, October 27, 2014, at the funeral home. Bob was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and his pastor, Rev. Alice Ford will officiate. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Frederick.
