Mr. Robert Harrison Payne III, 40, of Frederick, died on Monday, February 13, 2012 at his home. He is survived by his loving wife of six years Maria (Neve) Payne.
Born on January 19, 1972 in Washington, DC he was the beloved son of Robert Harrison Payne, Jr and Angelmarie (Smith) Payne of Huntingtown, MD.
Mr. Payne was a founder and president of Warrior Aviation. He also was a pilot who was passionate about the preservation of WWII aircraft.  His greatest joy was participating in airshows across the country.  He was a life-long hockey player and played for the Chesapeake Icebreakers and Dayton Bombers of the ECHL. He coached various Montgomery Youth Hockey Association teams, the University of Maryland Mens Hockey Club, and DeMatha Hockey.  He was a tireless fundraiser for local charities and the driving force behind a number of events over the years with the Washington Capitals Alumni.
Surviving beside his wife and parents are his mother and father-in-law Joan and Martino Neve, a sister-in-law Lisa Neve, his dog Coco and many other relatives and friends who will miss him immensely.
Family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike,
Frederick, on Monday, February 20th, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., with services beginning at
4:00 p.m. Private interment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Rob may be directed to Warrior Aviation to support career training for wounded soldiers.  Checks may be mailed to Warrior Aviation, Inc., Attn: Donations, P.O. Box 3728, Frederick, MD 21705. Gifts may also be directed to support Dr. Evan Lipson's melanoma research at the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center. Please make checks payable to Johns Hopkins University. Gifts may be mailed with a memo indicating that this gift is in memory of Robert Payne to the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center, 100 North Charles Street, Suite 234, Baltimore, MD 21201.
