Robert Palmer

Mr. Robert W. “Bob” Palmer, 83, of Thurmont, MD., passed away Thursday, September 1, 2011 at his home. He was the husband of Margaret Hecker Palmer, his wife of 52 years.
Born October 27, 1927 in Greencastle, PA, he was the son of the late Robert I. and Catherine Grosh Palmer.
Mr. Palmer served his country in the US Army during WWII and the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Post # 136 in Greenbelt, MD. He retired from the World Bank with over 25 years of service. Bob always enjoyed socializing with his friends in Thurmont.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children Bruce Palmer and wife Michelle of Ellicott City, MD and Melanie Friedman and husband Arthur of Harpers Ferry, WV, three grandchildren Shannon Palmer, Brock Palmer and Aaron Friedman and his sister Darc’e Easton of Hagerstown, MD.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont, MD on Sunday, September 4, at 2:30 pm.
Interment will be private.
