Robert Neal

October 6, 1944 — April 30, 2012

Robert Brian "Bob" Neal, of Middletown, Maryland, 67, died April 30, 2012, at Kline
Hospice House, Mt. Airy, Maryland, after a courageous 5-year battle with colon cancer
and its related side effects.
Born October 6, 1944, in Baltimore City, Maryland, he was the only child of the late
James Claude Neal and Violet Irene Murphy Neal.
Bob graduated from Frederick High School in 1962. He attended Tennessee Tech and
Frederick Community College. Bob served with the u.S. Army Reserves, 559th Signal
Company, from 1965 to 1971, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. In 1967, he was
awarded the Medal for Merit by Francis Scott Key Post # 11, as outstanding Private First
Class for the year 1965.
He was Plumbing Estimator for Frederick Trading Company from 1963 to 1965. He then
joined R. W. Warner, Inc. as Service Manager for approximately 24 years, until he and
his son, Randy, formed Neal Plumbing & Heating, Inc. Theirs was a unique relationship,
not only as father and son, but as co-workers and best friends. They developed many
longstanding relationships with their customers throughout their years of service.
Bob enjoyed spending time with his family, especially weekend road trips. He loved
nature, being outdoors, reading, antiquing, his dogs and horses, and visits to the Delaware
beaches. Bob's home was truly his haven, of which he took great pride. He was always
willing to assist Judy with the "honey do" list. He was a faithful Redskins fan.
Robert is survived by his wife, Judy Wiles Neal, of 45 years, and his son, Randy Brian
Neal. He was predeceased by his parents, and his in-laws, John F. Wiles and Mary C.
Wiles.
The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks and gratitude to Dr. Eric Bush, Dr.
Saeed Zaidi, Dr. Steven Brand, Dr. Kwok C. Lee, Dr. Amr Z. Hegazi, the staff of the
Cancer Care Center of Frederick, and last but not least, all of his caregivers associated
with Hospice of Frederick County and the Kline Hospice House. A special thanks to his
devoted friend, Tom Hafle.
Visitation with the family will be held at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike,
Frederick, Maryland, on Saturday, May 5, 2012, from 1-4 & 7-9pm where funeral services will held at 8pm in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made on Bob's behalf to Hospice of Frederick County, Maryland, P.O. Box 1799, Frederick, Maryland 21702.
