Robert Earl "Bob" May, 72, of 18433 Breathedsville Road, Boonsboro, Maryland, passed away on Friday, June 8, 2012, at his home after a lengthy illness.  He died peacefully surrounded by his devoted wife and best friend, Karin, and his loving family.

Born on January 22, 1940, on Salem Avenue in Hagerstown, Maryland, he was the son of the late Charles William and Evelyn Mae (Gladhill) May.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Georgia Marie (Morrison) May, who died on August 22, 2002.

Bob graduated from Boonsboro High School in 1957, and began his career as a service station mechanic at age 16 at McNamee's Sunoco Station at Lappans.  Later, Bob along with his brother, Fred, bought and expanded the station, named May's Service Center.  He retired from this business after fifty-four years of dedication.

Besides his deep devotion and love for his family, Bob enjoyed singing and playing the guitar.  He and his brother, Fred began the band named The Impossibles which played at many local clubs in the area.

Bob also enjoyed gardening and woodworking, designing and constructing furniture and many special home decorations.  Another favorite pastime was listening to Karaoke, especially his favorite song, "Unchained Melody".

He loved visiting many interesting places in the United States and traveled to Germany, the birthplace of his current wife, Karin.

Bob's most memorable trait was his sense of humor and his fun-loving nature.  He will be remembered for his wittiness and funny sayings.

He was a lifetime member of the Williamsport Red Men Tribe #84.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of seven years, Karin L. May; daughter, Tina Marie Strite and husband Wayne of Clear Spring; granddaughters, Jamie Lynn Perry and husband Sam of Boonsboro; Jodie Marie Stuller of Hedgesville; step-daughter, Cathy Sellar and husband Richard of Waynesboro; step-son, Mike Hanlon and wife Brenda of Hagerstown; step-granddaughter, Carli Amelia Sellar of Waynesboro; great-grandson, Aidan William Stuller of Hedgesville; sister, Melinda Belle May of Boonsboro; brother, James Edward May and wife Brenda of Hagerstown, sister-in-law, Linda May of Fairplay, and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde Richard May, who was killed in a  car accident in 1954 at the age of 19, and Charles Frederick May, who died after a courageous battle with Lymphoma in 2008.
