Mr. Robert “Robbie” “Pappy” David Long, Jr., 53 of Mount Pleasant, passed away from a long courageous battle of multiple myeloma cancer, Monday, August 11, at Frederick Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was the husband of his loving and caring wife Nancy Lee Clark Long, his wife of 12 years.
Born February 2, 1961 in Frederick, he was the son of Constance Main Long of Mount Pleasant and the late Robert Long, Sr.
Mr. Long graduated from Linganore High School in 1979. He was a member of Mount Pleasant United Church of Christ. Robbie owned and operated the family business R. J. Smith Plumbing and Heating Inc., established in 1959 by his grandfather. He enjoyed local drag racing in the “Poor Boys Toy” with the Wild Bunch, collecting fast cars and his Harley Davidson Motorcycles, but most of all he enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren and his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are his stepchildren Chris Clark and wife Nicole of Frederick, and Lindsay Clark of Frederick, grandchildren Trinity and Tyler Clark, his sister Karen Hinkson of Mount Pleasant, his brother Jody Long and wife Stacy of Smithsburg and a very special niece Destiny Johnson. He will also be remembered by special friends Jeff and Gina Weddle, godchildren Brian and Michael Weddle and many other numerous family and friends.. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Raymond J. and Helen Smith and Albert and Margaret Main.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, Friday, August 15, from 2-4 and 7-9:00 pm, where services will be held Saturday, August 16, at 2:00 pm with Rev. Norman Ross officiating.
