Robert Irving

Robert Wayne Irving Sr., 70, of Boonsboro, Maryland, passed from this life on Monday, January 28, 2019 at Doey's House in Hagerstown, Maryland. He was the husband of Susan Kay (Stottlemyer) Irving.
Born on July 23, 1948, in Hagerstown, Maryland, he was the son of the late Gerald Irving and Janice (Moser) Irving. He was a graduate of Boonsboro High School, class of 1966. He went on to graduate from Hagerstown Junior College with an Associates Degree in Business. Robert worked for the Atomic Energy Commission, the US Printing Office, Herald-Mail newspaper, Hagerstown Lumber Company and Environmental Air Control. He was the co-owner of Antietam Ford Tractor before working for Washington County Roads and Cochrans Auctions. He owned Auction Square Flea Markets and worked for Olden's Excavating prior to his final retirement.
He served in the United States Army Company C. 2/12, 25th Infantry Division, serving in Vietnam in 1970 and was a decorated military veteran of Vietnam and Cambodia. Robert was a member of the Boonsboro American Legion, Post 10; The American Disabled Veterans and the Military Order of the Purple Heart. He enjoyed coaching at South Mountain Little League and served as a Den Master for the Cub Scouts. He was a past member of the Lions Club and a lifetime member of the Beaver Creek Christian Church. In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors and was known for his talents as a gifted wood worker and craftsman.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Robert Wayne Irving Jr., Kristy Sue Irving and Justin Michael Irving; grandchildren, Trent Tyler Irving, Tristan Lynn Hartle, Troy Colter Irving, Bailee Justina Martin-Irving; mother-in-law, Patricia M. Stottlemyer; step-son, Lance Christopher Moyer and grandchildren, Kaytlynn Rebecca Moyer, Britnie Ann Moyer and Zachariah David Moyer; great-grandchildren, Bryson Christopher Moyer, Bryleigh Raelynn. Moyer and Harlynn Grace Knight; and sister, Teresa Ann Myers.
The family will receive friends from 4-6pm on Sunday, February 3, 2019 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro, Maryland.
A Celebration of Robert's life journey will take place at 1pm on Monday, February 4, 2019 at the Funeral Home. Interment will be at Beaver Creek Cemetery in Hagerstown, Maryland.
