Robert L. Hutzell, Jr., affectionately known as Rob, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at the age of 71 at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown. He was born on March 7, 1952, in Belton, Texas to the late Arlene and Robert "Bobby" Hutzell.

Rob had a big heart. He would give you the last Werther's Original from his pocket! Rob will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and his sense of humor. He always put others first and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Rob had an undying love for his family and cherished his role as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

Rob's fond memories include taking his family to the beach and amusement parks. He delighted in being a proud pappy who enjoyed attending Logan and Zoe's sporting events. In addition to being a devoted family man, Rob dedicated several years of his life coaching at South Mountain Little League, where he left a lasting impact on many young lives.

Rob had a special bond with his brother, Terry Hutzell. They worked alongside each other on numerous projects over the years while sharing a close friendship. Together they formed a bonafide men's breakfast club and embarked on many exciting adventures that created wonderful memories.

He was a 1970 graduate of Boonsboro High School where he not only excelled academically but also shone brightly on the football field as part of the undefeated teams in 1969 and 1970.

Serving his country was another significant aspect of Rob's life. He proudly dedicated a total of 40 years, two months, and 13 days between the USAF and the 167th Air National Guard in Martinsburg, West Virginia. His commitment and sacrifice will always be appreciated by a greatful nation.

When he wasn't spending time with his family, Rob was an avid member of the Ravens Roost. He had a great passion for football, especially cheering on his beloved Ravens at their games.

Rob leaves behind a legacy of accomplishments. He served on the Boonsboro Municipal Utilities Commission for an impressive 27 years, showcasing his dedication to his community and commitment to public service.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Cathy Hutzell, whom he married on May 17, 1980. Their love served as a beautiful example of commitment and mutual support for all who knew them. In addition to his devoted wife, Rob is also survived by his daughters, Kara Frantz and husband, Jason, as well as Kristin Nelson and husband, Ricky. His cherished grandchildren Logan and Zoe Frantz held a special place in his heart.
