Robert Elmer Hughes, age 94, a resident of Twin Oaks Assisted Living at Williamsport Retirement Village, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2007, at the village.
Born May 20, 1913 in Chewsville, MD, he was a son of the late Paul Edwin and Mary Louise Ashbaugh Hughes.
He was preceded in death by his wife, M. Lindell Carter Bowman Hughes.
He had been employed for 24 years with Charles Renner Garage in Hagerstown.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army Air Corps.
He was a member of Calvary Temple in Williamsport.
He is survived by one sister, Genevieve M. Miller of Mapleville, MD; two brothers, Russell E. Hughes of Brunswick, MD, and Harold P. Hughes of Tulsa, OK; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Wilt, and three brothers, Donald E. Hughes, Wilmer Hughes and Harry S. Hughes.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, Aug. 24, at Bast Funeral Home in Boonsboro. The Rev. Bobby Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Williamsport.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 A.M. Friday at the funeral home.
