Robert "Bob" Wayne Hershberger, born on July 29, 1945, in Cumberland, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 9, 2025. He lived a full life, marked by dedication to his career and love for his family and hobbies.
After completing his education at West Virginia University in 1965, Robert answered the call of duty by serving in the U.S. Army from March 1966 to March 1969. His commitment to service during this time instilled in him a profound sense of responsibility that he carried throughout his life.
Robert's professional journey began with Western Union and culminated in his esteemed role as Chief Computer Technician for CSC, where his expertise and leadership left a lasting mark with his colleagues. His contributions were significant, reflecting not only his skill but also his unwavering work ethic.
Outside of his professional life, Robert enjoyed a wide array of hobbies that showcased his vibrant spirit. He was an enthusiastic ham radio operator, an aspiring swing dancer, and an amateur pianist. His love for recreational piloting, biking, and travel allowed him to experience the world in extraordinary ways, but some of his most cherished moments were likely those shared with his friends over a hot mug of coffee at the diner just down the street.
He was a proud father to his children, Kristin Winn Kling and Steven Wayne Hershberger, who will cherish his memory for years to come. Robert also took great joy in being a grandfather to his beloved grandchildren, Pierce, Rainer, and Afton, creating moments and memories that will resonate throughout their lives.
Robert was preceded in death by his cherished parents, Howard Hershberger and Helena Lewis, and his beloved sister, Janice Miller.
Robert Hershberger leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and integrity that will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him. His spirit will undoubtedly live on in the hearts of his family and friends as they remember his ever cheery disposition and the joy he imparted throughout his lifetime.
