Robert Garver

Mr. Robert Garver, 78, of Frederick, MD., died Monday, August 16, 2010 at the Kline Hospice House.  He was the husband of  Shirley Phillips Garver.

Born June 2, 1932 in Minneapolis, MN, he was the son of the late Walter B. Garver and Daveda Hansen Garver.

Mr. Garver was a member of the Frederick Church of the Brethren and the Prospectors Sunday School Class.

He received his B.S. degree at the U. MD and his Masters from George Washington University and served his Country in the U.S. Army. Mr. Garver was a retired research physicist. He was an author, inventor of Microwave Diode Switch, a member of the Toastmasters Club, a fellow of the IEEE and has 16 patents. He was very active in the Veterans History Project in Frederick for more than four years. He was a member of the CALF and EAA and the primary photographer for Worman’s Mill and at his church.

In addition to his wife he is survived by five children Debra G. Kenvin and husband Jack of Westminster, Douglas S. Garver and wife Kim of Stafford, VA, Daniel K. Garver of Boyds, Mary G. D’Ambrosi and husband Dominic of Montevideo, Uruguay and Jennifer G. McNally and husband Kevin of Frederick, his grandchildren Luke Kenvin, Katelin, Sabrina and Sydney Garver, Francesca and Dominic D’Ambrosi, Jr, Megan, Joey and Lexi McNally, his sister Annette Garver of Greenville, SC, brother Jeff Garver and wife Maureen of Vienna, VA, sister-in-law Eileen Garver of Antioch, IL and his step-mother Dorothy Garver of Springfield, VA. Many nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by a brother Walter Garver and sister Susan Klein.

The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Wednesday, August 18, from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 19, at 10:00 a.m. from the Frederick Church of the Brethren, 201 Fairview Avenue, Frederick, MD with Pastor Sandi Evans Rogers officiating.

Interment Neelsville Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Germantown, MD
