Robert Crum “Bob” Fry, died June 5 at HeartFields Assisted Living in Frederick of complications of diabetes and dementia. Born July 5, 1932 near Adamstown, he was the son of Howard Clifton Fry and Charlotte Ellen (Crum) Fry. He was married for 50 years to Ann Myra (Rothenhoefer) Fry, who predeceased him in 2007. Mr. Fry operated a dairy farm on Hollow Road near Middletown from 1958 to 1995 and continued to live on the farm until moving to HeartFields in 2015.
He is survived by a sister, Dorothy McGinnis, of Southbury CT, two sons, Robert Crum Fry, Jr. of Hockessin DE and W. Brian Fry of Frederick, two granddaughters, Rebecca Catherine Smith (Quint) of Colorado Springs CO and Rachel Christine Fry of Arlington VA, and several nieces and nephews. A brother, Howard Clifton Fry, Jr., predeceased him in 1999.
Mr. Fry was a 1951 graduate of Frederick High School. In his early adulthood, he played trumpet in the Yellow Springs Band. In his later years, he was a member of the Middletown Lions Club and the Frederick County Promenaders Square Dance Club.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 9 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. A celebration of Robert's life journey will take place at on Saturday, June 10 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Rev. Dr. Steve Larsen will officiate. Interment will be at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Middletown, MD.
