Robert Anthony Eschbach of Boonsboro, MD, died peacefully on Wednesday, February 17, 2021. Born on March 27, 1924 in Chicago, IL, he was the son of the late Frank and Helen (Aspel) Eschbach. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Wilda Irene (Culp) Eschbach; and sons, Paul Clifford Eschbach, and Robert Anton Eschbach.
He attended Lindblom High School in Chicago and the University of Illinois in Urbana. He was a World War II Air Force Veteran as a specialist who trained pilots in night flying. He retired in March 1989 from Johns Hopkins University, Applied Physics Laboratory after 31 years of service.
He leaves behind his daughter, Margaret Elizabeth Eschbach and son-in-law, Roque Viegas; brother, Michael Eschbach and sister-in-law, Laurie Eschbach; daughter-in-law, Barbara Eschbach; grandson, Robert Anthony Eschbach, II; and granddaughter, Karen Eschbach.
Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 24th at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro with Rev. John J. Jicha as celebrant. A viewing will be held prior to Mass at the funeral home on Wednesday. Further information will be provided by the family. For those attending, masks and social distancing will be required.
