Mr. Robert “Bob” S.. Derrick, 89, of Frederick, Maryland, went to join his son James, who preceded him in death, on Saturday, January 21, 2012. He was the loving husband of Dorothy Brennan Derrick, his wife of 67 years.
Born December 8, 1922 in Newark, NJ, he was the son of the late Clement and Irene Pulis Derrick.
Bob proudly served his country in the U. S. Marine Corps as a paratrooper in the Pacific. He retired from Plainedge School System after 27 years. He was a member of Bethpage Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his devoted children George E. Derrick (Margaret), Virginia Derrick Mancuso (Thomas), and Bruce R. Derrick (Anne), a proud grandfather of Deborah Bruehs (Walter), Kirstin Goldston (Clay), John Mancuso (Chi), Timothy Derrick (Beth), Thomas (T.J.) Mancuso (Erica), Benjamin Derrick (Brittnie), Samantha Derrick (fiancé Marc), Brittney Derrick and Drew Derrick. He was proud to be called Pop Pop by Sydney, Alexandra, Campbell, Thomas, Brylie, Isabelle, Natalie, Isabel, Lily and Walti. He will be remembered by his family and many friends who will miss his quick wit and pleasant personality.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD on Thursday, January 26 from 7 – 9:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm, Friday, January 27, at Homewood at Crumland Farms, 7400 Willow Road, Frederick.
Interment will be private.
