Robert Samuel Creel, Jr., 82, recently of Parrish, Florida and previously from Frederick, Maryland, entered eternal life early morning February 28, 2016 with his wife of 29 years, Diane Newman Creel, at his side after a long battle with Carcinoid Syndrome.
Bob was born July 14, 1933 in Washington, DC to the late Robert S. Creel, Sr. and Thelma E. Creel, nee Conner. He graduated from Washington-Lee High School Arlington, VA in 1951 and then entered the USAF serving as a clerk in the Air Force Law Office until 1954.
He was in the finance and loan recovery business for many years eventually joining the law firm of Wolpoff and Abramson as a clerk and para-legal, eventually working his way up to Office Manager and Personnel Director of the firm. He was a faithful and loyal employee for 37 years.
In addition to his wife Diane, survivors include daughters Beverly Creel of London, England and Jessica Creel Munn (Gary) of Springfield, VA., his three step-children whom he raised as his own, Amy Leatherman Cowell (Daniel) of Frederick, MD, Andrew Leatherman (Sindu Scheck) of Ellicott City, MD and Mary Leatherman Auth (Thomas) of Walkersville, MD. His granddaughter, Heather Louise Creel of London, England and grandson Grant Cowell of Frederick, MD also survive. Bob was the beloved uncle to numerous nephews and nieces. He also leaves one brother, Michael Creel of Butler, PA. Bleu, his precious Papillion companion also mourns his passing.
A true Washingtonian, Bob was a die-hard Redskin fan, and a strong supporter of the Washington Nationals and Capitals. He had been looking forward to the beginning of the National’s Spring Training season.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Steven Creel, Richard Creel and Patricia Neeland. His previous marriages were to Patricia Mettler and Kathie Chandler Narro .
Visitation will be at Stauffer Funeral Home 1621 Opossumtown Pike Frederick, MD on Sunday, March 13, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church 1125 St. Michael’s Rd, Mt. Airy, MD on Monday, March 14, 2016 at 11 am.
