Robert Ray "Bob, Pappy" Cosgray, 62, of Middletown, died peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends. He was the loving husband of Diane Cosgray for 41 years.
Born November 17, 1955 in Frederick, he was the son of Beverly S. Benson of Jefferson and the late John Robert Cosgray.
He retired as assistant plant manager from the Department of Corrections Hagerstown facility.
Pappy spent many years coaching his kids in football, baseball and lacrosse. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and just enjoyed being outdoors. Above all else, times spent with family and friends were most special to him.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by son, Brian Robert Cosgray and wife, Kara; daughter, Lindsey Marie Mettinger and husband, Ryan; two grandchildren, Ryan Charles Mettinger, Jr., and Brooke Amelia Mettinger; father-in-law, George Donald Weisman, Sr; including special friends Bob and Becky Butler, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his grandmother, Caroline Jones, Bessie Cosgray; and mother-in-law, Sonta Amelia Weisman.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 29th from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Middletown Amvets Post #9, 408 W Green St, Middletown, MD 21769, with a celebration of life service to begin at 6 p.m.
