Mr. Robert E. "Bob" Campbell, 79, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 8, 2010 at the Glade Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of Mary D. Bonomo Campbell for 55 years.
Born on September 18, 1931 in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Thomas and Edna Minton Campbell.
Bob proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from both Control Data and Frederick Electronics where he worked as a precision sheet metal engineer.
Bob was 55 year and an honorary life member of the Walkersville Volunteer Fire Co. #11, where he was the former chief for 13 years. He was also a charter and life member of the Walkersville Volunteer Rescure Co. #24, a member of the Frederick Co. Volunteer Fire and Rescure Association "Hall of Fame", Masonice Lodge #357 of Pennyslvania and American Legion Post #282 of Woodsboro, Maryland.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children: Cheryl Crawford and husband Steve of Walkersville and Scott Campbell of Walkersville; granddaughter, Jennifer West and husband Jason of Woodsboro; great-granddaughter, Julie West; brother, Thomas R. Campbell and wife Kitty of New York State; Sister-in-law, Roseann Campbell of Hampstead, MD and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his brother Gene Campbell.
Friends may call from 3-5 and 7-9 PM on Tuesday, October 12, at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 40 Fulton Ave, Walkersville , where services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, October 13. The Rev. Stephen Humphrey will officiate.
