Mr. Robert “Bob” Eugene Myer, 72, of Frederick, Maryland, passed away Friday, November 8, 2013 at College View Center. He was the husband of Susan Gleason Myer.
Born April 18, 1941 in Smithburg, Doddridge County, WV, he was the son of the late Howard and Fonda Tharp Myer.
Mr. Myer retired after 30 years of service as a meat cutter from Safeway and was a member of the Meat Cutters Union. In earlier years, Bob was an award winning ballroom dancer and avid golfer. He was also a Cub Scout troop leader for several years. He enjoyed spending times with his family, especially his grandchildren. Bob was a football fan and loved cheering on the Redskins and WVU. He loved his home state of West Virginia, trains, cooking, gardening and all the outside work he did throughout the year.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children Brian Myer and wife Darcel of Brunswick, Sara Lichter and husband Brian of Baltimore and Brandon Myer and wife Kristina of Hanover, PA, seven grandchildren Marlee and Maddie Myer, Charlotte Lichter, and Cody, Julee, Kaylee and Emmalee Myer, , one step grandson Cody Breeden and one step great grandson Cyler Breeden, brother-in-law Rev. John Campbell, three nieces and their families. He was preceded in death by a brother William E. Myer and wife Andrea and a sister Marlene Campbell.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Monday, November 11, from 2-4 and 7-9pm, where services will be held Tuesday, November 12 at 11:00 am with Rev. John Campbell officiating.
