Robert (Bob) Lowell Bishop (77) of Clarksburg, MD, left this Earth on September 4, 2021.
Bob was born March 22, 1944, and resided in the Washington DC, metropolitan area. He worked as an auto mechanic and built a successful general contracting business in his earlier years.
Over the past 25 years, he served in various roles related to our nation’s medical response team, supporting disaster recovery and homeland security, culminating in his most recent role as Emergency Manager with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. When he wasn’t working, Bob enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and his beloved labrador retrievers as well as traveling, boating, and tinkering around the house.
He is deeply loved and missed by his wife of over 20 years, Vicki Meyer Bishop; two daughters, Theresa Prince (Tony) of Goldsboro, NC, and Denise Kearney (Ken) of Pikeville, NC; a stepson, Jason Meyer (Katie) of Boyds, MD; grandchildren, Nicole Prince, Gabrielle Prince, Natalie Meyer, Olivia Kearney, Brian Meyer, and Elizabeth Meyer; siblings, Doris Gerlach (Gene) and Richard Bishop (Susan); and many other family members and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Howard W. and Helen LeDuc Bishop; stepson, Brian Meyer; former spouse and mother of his daughters, Sheran Heffron.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bob's memory to Shatterproof , a national nonprofit organization dedicated to ending the addiction crisis in the United States.
