Robert Appel, Sr.
October 2, 1931 — June 24, 2014
Mr. Robert V. Appel, Sr., 82, of Frederick, Maryland, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Meritus Medical Center. He will now be reunited with his late loving wife Anna Boone Appel.
Born October 2, 1931 in Little Orleans, MD, he was the son of the late John and Malesta Appel.
Mr. Appel served his country in the U.S. Army. Bob retired, after 42 years of service, from Genstar.
He was loved by many and was known affectionately as “PAP” to others. For the last two years, Bob was a favorite resident of Julia Manor in Hagerstown.
He is survived by his children Michael Appel, Sr. of Frederick, Robert Appel, Jr. and wife Robin of Walkersville, Denise Appel of Frederick and James Appel, Sr. and wife Teresa of Boonsboro, grandchildren Brian, Bradley, Michael, Jr., James, Jr., and Ryan Appel, Theresa Church and Margaret Stratton, great grandchildren Madison , Colton , Natalie , Austin, Amelia and Alaina Appel, Camden and Benjamin Church, Aiden, Max and Sam Stratton, and a brother Paul Appel of WV. Many nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by 6 brothers and a sister.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Friday, June 27, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, where services will be held Saturday, June 28 at 11:00 am with Rev. David Sword officiating.
Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
