Robert Andrew, Sr.

Mr. Robert D. Andrew, Sr., 72, of Thurmont, Maryland, passed away Monday, December 17, 2012 at the University of Maryland Medical Center, in Baltimore.  He was the husband of Nancy L. Flabbi Andrew, his wife of 53 years.

Mr. Andrew was born February 5, 1940 in Frederick, Maryland, the son of the late Daniel and Ruth Nusbaum Andrew.

Mr. Andrew was a life long member of the Elias Evangelical Lutheran Church where he served as President on the church council and also as a deacon.  He was also a member of the Thurmont Senior Center.  Throughout his employment he worked at Hoke Furniture for 27 years, Claire Frock for several years, Software Services and retired in 2007 from Phoenix Mecano.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, watching the Orioles, gardening and traveling.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his son Robert D. Andrew, Jr and wife Patricia of Frederick two grandchildren Ashley Baker and husband Joseph of Brunswick and Amy Gordon and husband Justin of Crest Hill, Illinois, two great grandchildren Callie Baker and Lillian Gordon, siblings John Andrew, Joe Andrew and companion Sally Gebhart all of Emmitsburg, Kenny Andrew and wife Barb of Thurmont, Denny Andrew and wife Karen of Emmitsburg, Louise Shaffer and husband Bob of Thurmont, Janet Wallace of Paducah, Ky, Thelma Fair and husband Carroll of Fairfield and Pam Kaas and husband Donnie of Emmitsburg.  Many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews also survive.  He was preceded in death by a daughter Ruth Louise Andrew and a brother-in-law David Wallace.

The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont, on Friday, December 21, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.  Funeral services will be held at the Elias Lutheran Evangelical Church,  100 W. North Avenue,  Emmitsburg, on Saturday, December 22, at 11:00 am with Pastor Jon Greenstone officiating.
Interment will be in the church cemetery.
