Mr. Robert P. Allison, 73, of Frederick, Maryland, passed away, Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the University of Maryland Medical Center. He was the husband of Sally E. Clem Allison.
Born June 13, 1939 in Frederick, Maryland, he was the son of the late Leonard and Margaret Engle Allison.
Mr. Allison retired from Safeway in 1993, after 30 years of service. He also delivered parts for McHenry's Auto Parts, from 1994 to 2004. In earlier years, he umpired for the Frederick County schools. He was a member of Amvets Post #9, Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Frederick, the Owls Club, the Elks Club and a former member of the Loyal Order of the Moose. He bowled many years for Freeze King, played softball for Jug Bridge Seafood, and enjoyed gambling and golfing. Mr. Allison was a die-hard Detroit Tigers fan.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter Stacy Long and husband Jody of Johnsville, two sons Travis Allison of Wolfsville and Robert Allison, II and wife Kristan of Frederick, four grandchildren, a half-sister Betty Baker of Ocean City, mother-in-law Helen Clem and several brothers and sisters-in-law. He loved his cats; Tiger, Midnight, Peanut, and Blackie. He was preceded in death by two half-sisters Connie Strine and Eileen Stewart.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Wednesday, January 9, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm, where the funeral service will be held Thursday, January 10, at 11 am with Rev. Albert K. Lane, II officiating. Interment will follow at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Utica.
Pallbearers will be Wayne (Skeeter) Geisbert, Jody Long, Andy Fisher, Kenny Royal, Holmes Unglesbee and Leonard Rice.
