Robert Smith, Sr.

Robert Allen Smith, Sr., 85, of Hagerstown, Maryland, passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2016, at his home.
Born on January 18, 1931, he was the son of the late Harry Edward and Charlotte Elizabeth (Harper) Smith.
Bob had been employed with the Western Maryland Railroad for 43 years. He then worked 15 years for Shockey's and C.R. Williams Pianos and Organs in Hagerstown.
He was a member of Hagerstown Seventh-Day Adventist Church where he also serviced as an elder.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Catherine "Kate" Smith; one son, Robert A. Smith, Jr. of Hagerstown; and two sisters, M. Jean Dailey of Hagerstown, and Joanne E. Barjas of Dallas, Texas.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Iva Mae Rannells and M. Madeline Perkins; and five brothers, Charles Reno, Harrry E., George H., David P., and baby Joseph Smith.
A funeral service will be held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, in Boonsboro. Pastor Marc Swearingen will officiate. Interment will follow at the Boonsboro Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, Maryland.
