Rita worked as a secretary for many years where her friendly manner and skills in the office worked to the advantage of many local businesses, including Hutzell Realty & Appraisal, Morgan-Keller, Inc., Service Glass, Inc., and several local law firms.
Following the death of her husband Gene Zimmerman, she stopped working full-time, taking a job at a nearby Sheetz convenience store, where she became a beloved part of many customers’ morning routine.
Rita was a devoted mother and grandmother who worked hard to ensure a better life for her family. She loved summer and longed to live somewhere where it was warm all of the time.
In remembrance of her and in accordance with her wishes, arrangements are private and held at the convenience of the family. There will be a celebration in honor of her life for family and friends held at her longtime home, 900 Wilson Place in Frederick from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2017. Family and friends are welcome to join in the celebration of Rita’s life and in the planting of a tree in her honor. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to pay their respects to Rita make a donation to the charity of their choice.
