Rita J. Anderson

Mrs. Rita Jean Anderson, 78, of Frederick died Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Frederick Health Hospital. She was the wife of Joseph M. Anderson, they were married on May 20, 1972. 

Born April 10, 1944, in Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late Charles Marshall Cannon and Mildred Josephine Cannon. 

In addition to her husband, Joseph, she is survived by one sister, Lorraine Morries (Walt); two daughters, Robin Little (Jeff) and Tracy Hardy (Allen); grandchildren, Kelley Bender (Jamie), Skip Daugherty (Heather), Nathan Little (Becca), and Nicholas Little; great-grandchildren, Jameson Bender, Jackson Bender, Jett Bender, Hadley Daugherty, and Coop Daugherty; and very close friend of many years, Linda Weadon. 

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Gertrude Thomas, Diane Wagner, Jim Cannon, and Vernon Cannon. 

Rita was better known by her family as Nana. She enjoyed painting, reading, and spending time with her family. Her and her husband spent several years traveling in their RV and spent several winters in their Florida home. She loved holidays when everyone was all together - Faith and family were the most important things in her life. Rita will be remembered by her family as a strong-willed woman that fought until the very end. As a woman of many talents, she will be missed by all those she touched with her sharp wit and boisterous laugh throughout her many years. 

There will not be any formal services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Frederick Health Hospice.
