Richard Scott Seiver, 62, of Mt. Airy, MD, died May 19, 2009 at the Veteran's Hospital in Baltimore of prostate cancer.
Rick was born May 4, 1947 in Washington, D.C., to Frank Wilson Seiver and Kathleen Studd Seiver.
Graduating from Woodson High School in 1965, he worked as a machine operator for a year before joining the Army. Rick volunteered to serve with the 101st Airborne Division in Viet Nam until a grenade explosion almost took his life and rendered him permanently disabled as an amputee and hemiplegic (left side paralysis due to brain injury).
He married in 1971 and raised four children in Mt. Airy, MD, where he was an active and beloved member of Mt. Airy Presbyterian Church (PCA).
Despite enduring personal tragedy and lifelong disability Rick exuded a cheerful optimism and possessed a mischievous sense of humor. To anyone commenting on, or questioning the reason for his joy, Rick was quick to share his experiences of the mercy of God and his faith in Jesus Christ. His shining example of courage, honor, and strength, inspired all who knew him.
