Richard “Rick” Korchak Jr. (12/06/51-6/10/2018) passed away peacefully after a short illness at home on June 10th lovingly attended to by his wife of 42 years, his sister in law and a close friend.
In the 1970’s Rick and his wife had a production award winning dairy farm outside of Saratoga, NY. The dairy herd was sold when Rick entered the Machinist Apprentice Program at the Sandy Hill Corporation manufacturing paper and pulp machinery in Hudson Falls, NY.
Rick earned a degree in Dairy Science at the State University of New York. His Bachelor of Science degree was earned at Russell Sage and his Master of Science degree in Management at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute both in Troy, New York.
Rick retired from the National Institute of Science and Technology where he assisted small American manufacturers. Twenty years ago he created Webbikeworld a motorcycle gear review site which was sold this year.
Rick was an endearingly funny, quirky and extremely generous man. He is survived by his wife Lori Brunnen. They had no children. Sister Janet Brown and niece Leslie of New York, brother and sister in law Mike and Debra Shea, and nephews Bryan and Jack Shea of NC. In laws Ronald and Edna Brunnen of NC. Finally brother and sister in law Bruce Brunnen and Roseann Senese Brunnen of Long Island, brother-in-law, Steve Brown, niece Gioia Scharf and nephew Eric Brunnen also of Long Island.
After losing a fiercely fought battle against brain cancer, Rick will be missed terribly by his wife Lori, kitty Pixie and whippet Sugar. He deserved better. We will never, ever forget him.
A Celebration of Rick's Life will be held 5 p.m. August 11, 2018 at 71 Rockland Road, Westminster, MD. The family requests casual dress.
