Richard "Dick" Stambaugh

Mr. Richard "Dick" Allen Stambaugh, 75, of Thurmont, MD passed away Monday, February 3, 2014 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Margaret Stambaugh.
Born on July 11, 1938 in Thurmont, MD he was the son of the late Albert Vernon and Armatha Beard Stambaugh.
Richard proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Prior to his retirement, he worked for Potomac Edison as a Lineman for 32 years. Richard was an avid outdoorsman and really enjoyed fishing, particularly fly-fishing. He was a member of the AMVETS Post 7 in Thurmont, the American Legion in Thurmont, and the Thurmont Conservation and Sportsman Club.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughter Anna Verhoeff and son-in-law Rodney of Nebraska, and daughter Kimberly Stambaugh of Maryland. He was predeceased by son Richard "Hobie" Stambaugh, Jr. in 1991.
The family will receive family and friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 from 9-10 AM where a memorial service will begin at 10 AM, followed by a reception.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Richard's memory to the Salvation Army, 223 West 5th St., Frederick MD 21701 or AMVETS Post 7, 26 Apples Church Rd., Thurmont MD 21788.
